Melvin Sokolsky is an American photographer and film director, known for his editorial fashion photographs for major magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
Born and raised in New York City, Sokolsky began his career as a stills photographer, until he was hired by Harper’s Bazaar, at the age of 21. Working in both the advertising and the fashion industry, Sokolsky created a name in his fields and managed to become one of the biggest names in artistic photography, due to his talent and creative mind. Below you will find a selection of some of his most interesting and important photographic work.
“I resented the attitude that ‘This is editorial and this is advertising’. I always felt, why dilute it? Why not always go for the full shot?” says the artist.
Sokolsky has been awarded more than 20 Clio Awards.
