We all go through phases when we feel we don’t know who we are or even that life has come to change us beyond a point of recognition, but Spanish photographer PoL Úbeda Hervàs has found a way to express this feeling in a very unique way.The Barcelona-based artist in his series I’m Not There, chooses to portray nothing but his shadow and a pair of empty sneakers in a variety of different surroundings.Finding himself overpowered by the emotions caused by his changing personality and situation in life, he expresses it by his depiction of the shadows of the person he once was, while leaving behind just his shoes as a symbol for a fragment, a glimpse of his old self left behind.
