2016 is really, actually, literally here as proves the coolest film ever shot, title ‘Loving Vincent’. Made with scenes that are basically oil-painted on canvas, this film needed over 100 painters to create just 12 oil paintings per-second animation.

‘Loving Vincent’ is directed by the classically trained Dorota Kobiela and will be released this year, according to iMDB. “Loving Vincent is an investigation delving into the life and controversial death of Vincent Van Gogh, one of the world’s most beloved painters, as told through his paintings and by the characters that inhabit them. The intrigue unfolds through interviews with the characters closest to Vincent and through dramatic reconstructions of the events leading up to his death,” reads the film synopsis.
