Madrid-based artist Lee Grigg has created a stunning series of bizarre portraits that are digitally manipulated into looking distorted.
Grigg’s series, Deformations, features a wide range of portraits that despite being deformed look surprisingly realistic! The artist creates his faces by using Arnold for Maya, a program that allows subjects to be digitally twisted – and the results are amazing.
The wrinkles, eyebrows and the expression of the eyes remain intact, while the rest are stretched far from normal. Grigg’s portraits – or should we say digital sculptures?- are the most bizarre looking faces you’ll (n)ever see in real life : as close to reality as they are shocking, the artist’s work is experimenting with irony and questioning the meaning of norms.
We love it!
