“I love to transport feelings from the past into the present day and that only works with ‘real’ colors.”

Before the age of digital photography, all we had were negatives and paper photos. The sad thing about it is that they tend to deteriorate over time – fading, cracking, ripping and slowly becoming almost unrecognizable. Lucky for us, there are talented people out there who dedicate their skills to restoring these fading old photos.

Mario Unger from Austria, is a photographer, photoshop artist and musician from Austria who is currently fascinated with bringing old and damaged photos back to glorious, colorful life.

Unger uses Photoshop to transform those pictures into something brand-new. Rather than seeing monochrome images, we now see beautiful faces, colorful eyes, and wonderful fabrics. Some of the pictures he has transformed include the black and white image of Picasso and the first known female tattoo artist in the US.
