A trio of German art students came up with a brilliant idea how to make art out of something already existing in our environment but not doing any aesthetical good. One thing led to another and a dull-looking electrical tower became an eye-catching stained glass lighthouse (Leuchttrum in German).

Ail Hwang, Hae-Ryaan Jeon and Ghung Ki Park set out to beautify this casual urban relict using panels of coloured acrylic plastic to cover the gaps in the tower’s struts. The result can be easily called a piece of contemporary, site-specific art, flashing and glowing in the sunshine with its many colours.
