Kurt Cobain was one of the most influential and adored musicians of his generation. The American singer-songwriter was the lead singer of Nirvana and the silent rock god and grunge icon of the alternative music scene of the 90s.

Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1985 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene. Even though the band released only three albums together, Nirvana is one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold over 75 million records worldwide.

Kurt Cobain took his own life on April 5, 1994, after years of drug abuse and an unsuccessful attempt to complete a rehab program. “Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I’m too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don’t have the passion anymore, and so remember, it’s better to burn out than to fade away,” he wrote on his suicide note.
