Joseph Lee is an artist that have studied faces and expression for years. He creates portraits that mask the details and expressions of his subjects face. The portraits have thick and colorful brushstrokes of acrylic paint on them giving the portrait a 3 dimensional look. Although not having a face, his characters manage to convey emotions and suggestions.

“I like vulnerability. Not to say that it’s a good feeling, but I think it’s something honest and real. I think we all have a front, an exterior, a societal mask but I’m always in tune to whatever I can get to chip away with that. I follow more photographers than artists. I love portrait artists and people who can shine a lot on things that aren’t as exposed to the mainstream.” Joseph answered when he was asked in an interview what’s his favorite emotion is.
