Laurence Philomene is a young Canadian photographer based in Montreal and a member of he feminist art collective “The Coven”.
Her pop, vivid photographs are of bright colors, as she likes to experiment with the use and meaning of color in photography. Documenting her everyday life, her relationships and obsessions, Philomene loves taking self-portraits, photographing girls and exploring gender and femininity through her work.
In her series Color Studies, the photographer captures nude models inside pools of colors, creating a palette of blue, pink, purple and yellow. Her subjects become the brushstrokes in a colorful canvas, while their smooth movements are captured by Philomene the way a painter draws his models lines.
Fun and enchanting, Laurence Philomene’s Color Studies is a series proving her unique style and special aesthetics.
