Your vision is fine, it is just an optical illusion!

 

Okay these next photographs will make you think that someone is playing games with your vision. No it’s not colorful images as the title says they are black and white, yet black and white is not the only colors that you will see. It’s an optical illusion created by digital media artist and software developer Øyvind Kolås.

Somehow our brain gets tricked into ‘filling in the gaps,’ taking the cues from the colored lines to predict what the rest of the picture should look like. But the photo itself is is simply different colored grids laid over a greyscale photo.

“An over-saturated colored grid overlaid on a grayscale image causes the grayscale cells to be perceived as having color,” Kolås said about the experiment on his Patreon page.
