Caris Reid is a Los Angeles and New York-based artist whose work is a combination of magic realism and pop art.
Painting inspired scenes and depicting her objects in a artistically raw way but with surrealistic features, her imagery is a mixture of pure eroticism and spirituality, while her aesthetics give an intense “Frida Kahlo” vibe.
The artist is interested in aspects of meditative practicing, and her work stands as if it has the power of healing. Reminding one of the practice of reiki, Reid’s hands in her mantra-like paintings, look like symbols of well-being, while the women in her water portraits, look like goddesses of a strange but very contemporary religion.
