Pedro Covo is a Colombia-born and based artist who has worked for several magazines and companies since 2008.
His work is focused in representative painting, with a touch of abstractness and obscurity. His series “Swimmers” is a beautiful example of the more abstract approach in his representations, as he depicts his figures only to define their background and actions. Covo’s soft and harsh brushstrokes juxtapose the splashes of water, while his bizarrely distinguishable bodies exist as one with the deep blue sea and choppy waters.
But even though Covo individualizes his figures in comparison to the color and waves of the water, their single characteristics and features are non-existent. That not only makes their personas indistinct, but also gives them a sense of tranquility and loneliness.
