Ezra H. Murray for Art-Sheep
Bristol-based artist Mariele Neudecker creates 3d landscapes within large tanks filled with water. The result is “Tank Works”, an ongoing project in which Neudecker melds sculpture with chemistry.
The artist is inspired by transcendent and romantic works of art and crafts small-scale sculptures using objects such as model ships, trees and mountains which she puts in the tanks and then fills them up with water. Neudecker then adds several chemicals that react with the water and create special atmospheres while at the same time bringing into existence contained climates which moderate with the course of time. The result is a dynamic, sculpted landscape within an aquarium.
