Anna Randal for Art-Sheep
Are you one of these people that have a place for every object in their house or you mostly leave them around the house and then spend hours looking for them?
If you belong in the second category, there’s a thing you can do about it, as Studio Thier&vanDaalen designed the Showcase Mirror a vitrine you can put your valuable objects in, which also protects them and displays them the way they deserve to be protected and displayed. The Showcase Mirror is basically a mirror with a wooden frame, covered with a glass bubble that secures the object and automatically turns it into a work of art.
Thier and Van Daalen were inspired by the way soap can “produce” a temporary but beautiful situation, which is soap bubbles. The exquisite shape of a floating bubble was interpreted as a blown glass into a square frame. This series combines two exacting handcrafts, the techniques of glassblowing and woodworking, with the designers having achieved a perfect connection between the two.
The duo collaborated with Van Tetterode Glas Studio and Marc Barreda in blowing the glass into the wod frames.
