Hubert de Lartigue is a France-born and based artist who focuses on photorealistic portraiture. Using the female body as his source of inspiration and as his subject, the artist works by painting his women embracing and highlighting their beauty and imperfections.
Influenced by fashion photography and the glossy idealization of the female nude, De Lartigue is known for capturing his live models in sensual and alluring poses, often focusing on their lips. “The portrait is a classic theme in the world of painting. However, I try to create elements of surprise in each of my portraits, the way I crop them, the expression or the attitude of the models. But the power of the portrait lies above all in the look of the model, which is unique each time. All I have to do is underline the strength and the intensity,” he writes on his website.
