“Text Me: Nature” (1/10)
Agape Charmani for Art-Sheep
Everyday before I go to bed I thank technology for 3 reasons. For existing, for making another one of my days much better and for giving a chance to creative people to turn their ideas into realities, and then share them with the world.
Tumblr blogger 8hy is a young student from California, who’s been creating images of text messages as a project titled, “Text Me”. The images are mobile phone screenshots, that show text messages addressed to a loved one. These messages were actually sent either by her or by people who shared their story with her, and they have definitely touched thousands of people who can identify with the situations they refer to.
Having started with texts written on an old Nokia and transferred into simple, transparent images, 8hy later added background images to match her powerful words. Film stills, details of paintings and photographs fill the background of these beautiful digital poems.
Whether telling a love story or expressing disappointment and frustration, “text mes” are an exceptional example of neo-conceptual-esque art, that exist as memos of the digital world, its people and their relationships.
