The adorable, faithful robot R2D2 is by far one of Star Wars’ most popular characters. But the droid that always has the solution at hand and beeps his coded messages, often with a sense of humour, is seemingly restrained by its limited mobility. Imaginative sculptor Katuhisa Yamaguchi decided to transform our loveable sidekick droid and give it the mobility it lacks. In this photo series, the sculptor shows us how he re-imagined R2D2 with body parts from other pop culture characters like He-Man or Metal Gear’s Raiden and turned it into a super hero that kicks a Stromtrooper’s butt in defence of C-3PO.
