After her Genetic Portraits series, the Quebec-based photographer and graphic designer Ulric Collete has managed to impress us all with her new work. This one goes beyond the split portraits of family members.This time she presents us with portraits of brand new “hybrids”. Half-human half-men. She merges the animal kingdom with mankind showing great mastery.
Possibly inspired by mythology, Collette gives us a taste of a new hybrid. Although we can faintly make out the boundary between the head of the animals and the naked body of the humans, the portraits give us a sense that we are standing before the transformation that very moment. They are like shape shifters ….swinging between their animal and human selves.
