Kathy Rosario is a photographer greatly inspired by infants, pregnancy and motherhood, as one can easily understand by just a glance at her beautiful and colorful creations. In one of her latest projects the Florida-based photographer has undertaken the task of capturing, step by step, her friend’s home birth, from her first contractions to breastfeeding the newborn after its arrival.Even though having the labor process at home is generally considered as involving significantly more dangers and risks for both mother and infant and rejected by the majority of expectant mothers,  there are, nevertheless, some women who prefer the intimacy and comfort of the experience.

In any case, Rosario’s pictures are indisputably a testament to the beauty and wonder of birth. As she herself states, “To me, there is nothing more amazing than watching a woman give birth, and when it’s in the comfort of her own home it feels even more special. It was pure bliss and tranquility as we awaited for the baby’s arrival. I have photographed quite a few births already, but nothing quiet compared to the serenity of a home water birth!”
