Anna Randall for Art-Sheep
Margarita Sampson is an artist based in Australia, whose work is definitely something that stands (pun intended) out!
Her sculptural works are found chairs which with a lot of work and fantasy, are transformed into surreal pieces of furniture. After carving and sculpting the wood, Sampson spends a lot of time into sewing fabric, beads, feathers and many more little stuff, I would never think of putting on a chair.
Through her unique aesthetic, she brings everyday objects to surreal life, creating a chaotic series of furniture, one could imagine exist in Alice’s Wonderland. These bizarre chairs look like they are infected with a virus that turned them into paranormal creatures, no one could ever stop staring at. Nonetheless Sampson’s works are a spectacular that definitely makes the viewer sit up (again, pun intended)!
