These giant wooden trolls are the work of Thomas Dambo. The Danish artist, renowned for similar installations, in his home country’s capital, in South Korea and Illinois. His new troupe of trolls is to be found in the forests of Boom, in Belgium. And were commissioned by Belgium’s festival “Tomorrowland”
All of these gentle giants were build from reclaimed and recycled wood. Sourced from pallets, structures, buildings and fallen trees.
“Trash is a material and it only depends on how you work with it,” Dambo stated in his press release about his latest project. “We can design an entire world out of trash. We need to look at it and then think about what to do with it. That’s why I’m building these bigger-than-life scale projects. By doing that and involving people, they will open their eyes and see the possibilities and opportunities that lay in our trash. I hope that my art will inspire people to recycle and encourage them to be kind to nature and our planet.”
