Influenced by comics and pulp magazines Canada-born artist Ryan Heshka, has a body of very interesting and complex work. From superheroes to pin-up girls, Heshka’s subjects are vintage figures, with extravagant looks and mysterious characters, depicted often as allegories used as commentary by the artist.
Having been drawing from a young age, Heshka has experimented with sketching, building cardboard cities and making super 8 films. He is inspired by natural history and pop culture, while his work is full with references to music, movies and animation. His work has appeared in magazines like Vanity Fair, Playboy, Wall Street Journal and Esquire.
