Canadian photographer Red Methot has gained mass attention for his moving photo series Les Premas. The project features 22 powerful portraits of toddlers, children and adults holding black and white photographs of their newborn, premature selves.

Methot manages to capture the brave spirit of these people who fought for life since the very first moments of their existence. One little boy, Noah, holds a photograph of his twin sister who died one month after birth. Another boy, Thomas, was born at just 23 weeks!

You can find Methot’s project on his facebook page.
