“Porn For the Whole Family” is exactly what the title suggests. Porn for the whole family!
Brian Steinhoff created a series of images that are hiding -or highlighting, sex, in the most creative way. The original material is taken from porn movies, with Steinhoff capturing stills from them and covering their NSFW content with amusing floral patterns. Here the private moments of the people depicted are nothing more than abstracted shapes.
What’s extremely interesting is how this series somehow comments on censorship. Are we really protected from its explicit content? Isn’t it obvious that these images are photographs of people having hot sex?
And while the combination of background and pattern might be confusing for the viewer, the specific form of the floral shapes and the sex toys left unedited in the images, make it more than clear, that Steinhoff is talking about sex! It’s kind of what happens with TV shows. The “bleeps” exist because they have to, they don’t actually “protect” the viewers from hearing a “bad word.”
