Agape Charmani for Art-Sheep
Hugo Santos is a Portuguese designer who takes every form of art very seriously, especially the art of crying!
It all started last year, when he had to create something to exhibit and sell at the Pop-Up Shop, organized by ESAD’s Communication Design MA in a cultural center in Porto. Unfortunately all of the ideas the designer pitched were rejected. This negative outcome made the designer lack motivation which eventually led him to the state he was in when he created “Don’t You Weep! Tissues”.
This project is nothing more than a box of tissues. Actually, it is a lot more than just a box of tissues. Even though tears and tissues are linked with sad moments, these particular tissues are small doses of positivity. And even if you’re grabbing one of Santos’ tissues while sad, they immediately make your day. Every tissue has a motivational quote printed on it in silkscreen, with its color being a fluorescent orange, a color that symbolizes and transmits energy and joy.
Even though “Don’t You Weep! Tissues” was born as a result to the designer’s feelings of desperation and disorientation, Santos perceives it as a sarcastic comment on his then situation that balances perfectly, creativity with irony.
