Fortune Teller is a series of ceramic artworks, created by Thai artist, Vipoo Srivilasa. The artist who is now based in Australia, draws from his homeland’s traditions and merges the typical custom of palm reading with the contemporary.
And I don’t know if the palm with the word Google written on it can actually search the internet, but these ceramic works really tell you something. Srivilasa’s work in general is driven by his concerns on the current political situation and tends to question people’s ethics and relations with the traditions. According to the artist, this series aims to draw the viewer’s attention to social and environmental issues and warn them about the risks that lie on the contemporary way of living. Is the future of this world written on the palms of these ceramic hands?
