by Anna Randal

Van Sarki is a Kentucky-born, Brooklyn-based photographer. He became more known a couple of years ago with his successful Kickstarter campaign for his project, Burlesque Compere. Through his revealing portraits, Sarki explored the personalities and lives of more than 20 performers of the New York burlesque scene.

His images show both the artists and the people behind the glitter and makeup. This interesting set of images presents how different-looking is actually the persona of the performer from the person behind it.
