Greetings, my brave reader.
Christine McConnell is a conceptual photographer who… bakes. Yup, that’s right, she bakes as well as shoots photographs of herself in unusual situations. While it was hard for me to decide whether to talk about her cakes or photographs, or even both, in the end I decided to focus on her photography.
McConnell’s self portraits in which the viewer finds her in scenarios with a murderous scent with a 50’s house-wife aesthetic that flirts with that of the pin-up aesthetic of the same era. Her compositions, though sometimes having an air of weirdness, to say the least, are filled with a biting sense of humour and are technically perfect.
Below is a strict selection of some of her photographic work for you to enjoy, my brave reader. Be sure to check out her website, though, for more photography and, of course, bakery.
