Pencil Shavings Can Be A Great Substitute To Colouring Material If You Want To Make A Picture

Terry Orwell for Art-Sheep

Artist Meghan Maconochie is doing a project called “365 days” in which she makes a drawing a day, but she uses her colouring material in a different way. Instead of actually drawing with coloured pencils, she sharpens them and uses the shavings to create her images. Maconochie’s work is elaborate and carefully precise and in it one can find many recognizable characters like from pop culture -like Bugs Bunny and Harry Potter- as well as various other subjects, like animals

and music.

The time it takes her to create these intriguing “drawings” depends on how detailed her subjects are and varies between 10 minutes to several hours. What is really interesting about Maconochie’s work, regardless of the time she needs to make them, is that they obviously belong in a category of their own.
