Matthew Cerletty is an American artist. His work balances between two very important emotions that drive almost every artist; sadness and joy. These two, as contradictory as they are, are perfectly juxtaposed in Cerletty’s paintings, which are created with skill and a lot of humor.

Most of his works are personal, or draw from his own memories and experiences. Depicting men, women and objects, the artist balances on the line between pop art and surrealism, giving his characters the strictness they deserve and the cynicism they already have. Painting the modern life, Cerletty includes all the characteristics that make it one. Confusion, boredom but also fun form the mentality of his subjects, something that makes them interesting and easy to identify with.
