Bisexuality is an issue more and more celebrities open up about. It is an issue people feel more comfortable to talk about in our sex-fluid era, with famous models, musicians and actors coming out as bisexuals.
But I must say, something I never saw coming, was John Lennon out of the closet. And to be fair, there were always rumors about his relationship with the Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein, something the humorous musician always knew how to tiptoe around.
And even though these rumors are probably false, Yoko One, second wife of Lennon, told The Daily Beast that her husband wanted to have sex with men. “Well, that’s another thing. John and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically, all of us must be bisexual. And we were sort of in a situation of thinking that we’re not [bisexual] because of society,” she states regarding her and Lennon’s thoughts on bisexuality.
As she continues, Lennon thought about having sexual relations with men, but was never attracted by anyone he knew, “I think he had a desire to, but I think he was too inhibited. No, not inhibited. He said, ‘I don’t mind if there’s an incredibly attractive guy.’ It’s very difficult: they would have to be not just physically attractive, but mentally very advanced too. And you can’t find people like that.”
So it looks like John Lennon was not just a legend, an activist and a music genius, but also a person like you and me; a picky bisexual.
