He transformed this rock into a “Jaws”-like shark
Jimmy “Swift” is an American-born artist who has been in motion for over 15 years, traveling to over 90 countries and creating art along the way. His signature characters are a narration of the personalities that he’s encountered during his travels, and are a window into the bizarre and sometimes comical world he has experienced. His work uses mixed media and elements of nature unique to each location. He is currently based in Los Angeles, California working on a new body of work.
If you are ever in India, and specifically on the shores of Palolem Beach in South Goa, you might encounter one of his creations. It will not be in a museum or a restaurant or anything like that. In actuality, it will be in the water, at the beach.
The artist found a pointy rock, of great size near the shore. He then transformed aforementioned rock, into a realistic, horrifying great white shark! The result is quite unique and thought maybe it is not for the faint of heart to stumble upon, it presents bathers, the perfect photo op.
Jimmy actually revisited the site, two years after he created his shark.
“After two years my shark was almost completely faded away, so a fresh coat of paint and he’s back and ready for more selfies.” The artist said. He also comented about his initial work.
“This was the hardest thing I’ve ever painted. I was literally beaten up by the waves and rising tide and forced to stop before it was finished. I could have done better, but between the blowing sand and wind, splashing waves, burning hot sun and the fact I’ve never painted a shark before or painted on a 3-dimensional surface like a rock…”
