Mark Twain (1835-1910) or Samuel Clemens, as his real name was, is considered one of the greatest American writers, called “the father of American literature” by Faulkner. An acclaimed humorist, Twain’s most characteristic works are his two novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, generally accepted as classics of American literature.
