Melissa Faithful for Art-Sheep

Vancouver-based photographer Jackie Dives must really hate her friends, as not only she asked them to pose naked for her, she also made them eat their favorite snacks while being photographed.

I’m actually only kidding. Dives seems to actually adore her friends, as she managed to capture extremely beautiful and erotic pictures of them, even while having an intimate moment with their guilty pleasure -food. This amazingly bright project is called Comfort Food, and the result is a series of photos in which the models -both human and carbs, pose naked in random locations.

And while food can be a thing that brings together family and friends, junk food is a very private thing, something we all do on our own and share with just ourselves. Eating comfort foods like burgers and ice-cream can be perceived as a reaction towards our bodies and our self-esteem. This is why this series is so interesting. Because Dives leaves her subject not only physically, but also psychically naked.

And even though the trait of feeling comfortable while eating naked in front of a camera, was not popular amongst her models, the photographer found the process of shooting not at all awkward. She made her subjects accept their eating habits, break down the shame and proudly show their exposed body and soul.
