Melissa Faithful for Art-Sheep

Yossi Loloi’s project Full Beauty is a series of photographs with obese women posing naked.

This set of images is a statement against the media’s obsession with clean-cut nude pictures. Loloi is trying to show that even though not all the women in the world have model-type body proportions, they can indeed be photographed naked. He wants to unmask the hypocrisy of the art world, which he finds equally sexist as the fashion industry, as it wouldn’t consider larger women as its subjects.

As he writes on his website, “I focus on their fullness and femininity, as a form of protest against discrimination set by media and by today’s society. What larger women embody to me is simply a different form of beauty. I believe we own ‘freedom of taste’ and one shouldn’t be reluctant of expressing his inclination towards it. Limiting this freedom is living in a dictatorship of esthetics.”

Loloi images depict many brave women, who had the courage to take their clothes off and pose for their photographer. I think we can all praise these women’s strength to show their imperfect large bodies.
