Greetings, my brave reader.

“See Through” is Elen Gales‘s photographic series that celebrates beauty in a different way. Combining digital image layering techniques with transparency elements, the San Francisco-based photographer creates images of an ethereal character that reflect perfectly their titles. The focal point of “See Through” is the four primary pieces titled “Sun”, “Moon”, “Stars”, “Clouds” in which Gales in collaboration with digital artist Kush Amerasinghe depicts some of the most common celestial elements through the use of human forms and translucent subject matter.

Elen Gales is originally from the Philippines and has lived in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Nepal. Her exposal to different lifestyles and languages has given her the advantage of becoming deeply involved with several social standards as well as many different cultures. Gales, who is also a videographer with a background in television productions of documentaries, is a self-taught photographer with no formal training in the craft. What difference does it make, though, my brave reader? Her photographs are powerful and that’s what it all boils down to.
